The standand unit of distance in Blight is a League. One League is the distance between neighbouring waypoints (points where dotted paths intersect).
The time it takes a unit to move 1 League depends on the movement speed of the unit and the terrain the unit is traversing. The standard movement speed of a unit is the time it takes to move 1 League along a road. Other terrain types have movement penalties.
Flying units ignore terrain movement penalties and can fly across rivers, lakes, and seas. Flying units can be set to Avoid zombies, so that they will not engage enemies or burn bodies, or to Engage zombies. Switching between Avoid and Engage costs Valour.
Swimming units can move across rivers, lakes, and seas, but are confined to the Swamps. They cannot move to Plains, Forests, Deserts, or Mountains.
There are two ways to issue movement orders to your heroes and armies.

Zombies usually move slower than their living counterparts, at a speed that depends on their race. Zombies will always move towards the nearest unblighted location (settlement or Mana Pool).
