Zombies!

Zombies are referred to interchangeably as Immortals, Undead, Blighted, and Zombies. Any power that affects an Immortal will affect any type of Zombie, unless otherwise stated. Likewise, any power that affects a Mortal will affect any living creature, unless otherwise stated.

Terrain Buffs

Each race of Zombies is 50% stronger on their home turf. If you can lure the zombies from their home terrain, you will be making your job much easier. You can see a zombie's current buffs on its details panel.

Zombie terrain buffs:
  • Zombie Humans are stronger in Plains
  • Immortal Elves are stronger in Forests
  • Undead Dwarves are stronger in Mountains
  • Zombie Orcs are stronger in Deserts
  • Immortal Trolls are stronger in Swamps
  • Undead Goblins are stronger in Forests & Swamps

Zombie Bosses

If a zombie reaches a Mana Pool and Blights it, a Zombie Boss will be created. Zombie Bosses have unique powers and attributes that affect the whole map. When a Boss emerges, it is likely that all players will have to stop what they're doing and cooperate until it is defeated.

Each race has two different Zombie Bosses, either of which could emerge when a Mana Pool is Blighted:
  • Zombie Humans: Dread Knight and Necromancer Lord
  • Immortal Elves: Lich King and Nightmare Lord
  • Undead Dwarves: Ironhide and Lord of Destruction
  • Zombie Orcs: Queen of Lies and Lord of Purgatory
  • Immortal Trolls: Trailblazer and Lord of Confusion
  • Undead Goblins: Jester King and Master of Coin

Zombie Movement

Zombies move towards the nearest (as the Gryphon flies), unblighted settlement or Mana Pool. If there are two locations equally close to a Zombie army, it will randomly choose between the two.

Zombies are usually slower than their living counterparts. Each type of zombie moves at a different speed, depending on its race. For example, Undead Goblins move slower than living Goblins, but still move faster than living Trolls.

Zombies can be buffed to move faster or slower. Some Hero powers can also cause the zombies to flee, follow the caster, or be pinned on the spot for a period of time. Manipulating Zombie movement is a key strategy in defeating the Blight.
